Kehlani Announces That Her New Album Features More Collaborations Than She Has Previously Done

Anticipation for Kehlani’s next album has significantly increased, as the Oakland singer (who uses she/they pronouns) revealed that the project will include more collaborations than she has previously undertaken. During an interview with Inked on January 7, the artist provided fans with insights into what they can expect from the LP set to release this spring.

“I have way more collaborations than I’ve probably ever had, and they’re all people that I really, really respect,” Kehlani stated. “The coolest thing about it is that there are no features that feel like, ‘Oh, a label threw this together,’ or ‘Two people were popping right now, so we just threw it together.’ It was all super organic.”

“Everybody’s just loving the music that’s being made,” they continued. Kehlani did not disclose additional information regarding the LP’s featured artists, but Usher and Brandy have been confirmed as collaborators.

Recently, the “Out The Window” singer mentioned to Rolling Stone that she has also worked in the studio with Tank, Ne-Yo, Jermaine Dupri, and Bryan-Michael Cox, though it remains to be seen if their contributions will appear on the final album. Khris Riddick-Tynes, the producer of “Folded,” is set to executive produce this full-length project.

Kehlani informed Inked that the album is “almost finished,” suggesting that the reveal of the tracklist and artwork may be forthcoming.

Next month, “Folded” will be nominated in two categories at the 2026 Grammy Awards. It will compete for Best R&B Song against Summer Walker’s “Heart Of A Woman,” Chris Brown’s “It Depends,” Durand Bernarr’s “Overqualified,” and Leon Thomas’ “YES IT IS.”

For Best R&B Performance, Kehlani will again face off against Walker and Brown, alongside Justin Bieber’s “YUKON” and Thomas’ “MUTT (Live From NPR’s Tiny Desk).” The winners will be announced on February 1 during the live ceremony airing on CBS from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
