Judith Sephuma – Iya Iyo (Remixes)

Judith Sephuma’s Iya Iyo (Remixes) is a four-track project that reinterprets her iconic Afro-jazz classic in a contemporary context. Released on 21 August 2026, this project commemorates 25 years of A Cry, A Smile, A Dance and includes three new remixes along with the original recording.

The project features contributions from Stixx, Shazmicsoul, and C-Blak, each providing a unique perspective on Iya Iyo. Stixx integrates the song into an Amapiano style while maintaining its jazz roots, Shazmicsoul offers a more urban contemporary-house remix, and C-Blak centers his version around Sephuma’s distinctive vocals. The remixes incorporate Amapiano grooves, deep house rhythms, Afro-house textures, warm percussion, melodic piano elements, and electronic production, with Judith’s original vocal performance serving as the constant element.

Iya Iyo (Remixes) transcends a simple collection of dance remixes; it symbolizes a convergence of South African musical heritage and a new generation of electronic producers. The project effectively retains the essence of the original while revitalizing Iya Iyo for today’s dancefloors.
