Joey Badass, Nyck Caution & Capital Steez – Gwood

Joey Badass Nyck Caution Capital Steez Gwood

Joey Bada$$ and Capital Steez will forever be remembered as icons of a particular era. The artists played a significant role in putting New York back on the map during the blog era, largely due to their characteristic production style and bold lyrical delivery. Steez’s passing has cemented his status as an iconic figure of this time period, and “Gwood” is a historical artifact previously unknown to us. The track was initially recorded in 2010, but has only now been made available to the public. Joey Badass and Capital Steez perform alongside Nyck Caution.

Joey Badass launches the song, and it’s striking to hear how his youthful voice affects the overall sound. The rapper still had to release his debut album, 1999, and was yet to refine his delivery to the standard we usually expect. Noting that, he sounds as hungry as ever, with Capital Steez’s backing vocals further amplifying the energy. Nyck Caution performs the second verse while maintaining synchronisation with the other two. Steez remains in the background. It’s pleasant to hear from him once more. The notable fact is that “Gwood” incorporates the beat from “Glenwood.” A previously overlooked collaboration between Kanye West and Big Sean serves up even more nostalgia from the 2010s on “Enjoy it”.
