The NFL’s choice of Latin international star Bad Bunny to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show has been met with both opposition and enthusiastic backing from fans. JAY-Z is one of those individuals, who recently came to the defence of the Puerto Rican star in a succinct yet powerful manner.

In interviews, JAY-Z has traditionally been a person who speaks sparingly, and this was also evident as he left the Roc Nation offices in New York City on Monday, October 27. When pausing to sign autographs, the Brooklyn rapper told TMZ, “I don’t want to discuss anything,” following a question about Bad Bunny. The reporter then questioned the Hip Hop mogul further. “Why is everyone giving him such a bad reputation?”

Hov responded calmly, “They adore him, don’t be deceived.”

After a series of additional inquiries, he said, “I don’t have anything for you.” I don’t want to be rude to you … I don’t have any information to share with you, with a smile, while signing your autographs the whole time. Although that’s the case, I do love you. Just keep on doing what you’re doing.

JAY-Z’s opinions are significant because he notably collaborated with the NFL in 2019 to assist in choosing its Super Bowl halftime performers. The first artists he booked were Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in the year 2020. He was also involved in the selection process for Kendrick Lamar, who won the award last year.

The NFL is maintaining its original decision regarding Benito, despite (mostly Trump-supporting) critics attempting to portray him as an unsuitable choice. At a recent press conference, Commissioner Roger Goodell of the pro football league stated that the singer will be performing on the halftime show stage in February 2026, despite the negative reaction.

Goodell stated on October 22 that they were confident it would be a fantastic display, adding that he understood the platform he was on and believed it would be thrilling and a moment of unity.

First, during his opening monologue as host of “Saturday Night Live” in early October, Bad Bunny stated that if you aren’t already fluent in Spanish, you have four months to learn it.
