Jay Electronica reacted negatively to being booed during his concert in Los Angeles over the weekend, choosing to confront the hecklers directly. The Roc Nation artist’s performance at The Compound on Saturday (April 4) took a turn when some audience members voiced their discontent with his decision to perform “Exhibit C” acapella, rather than over the original Just Blaze beat.

Social media footage revealed that Jay stopped his performance to address the crowd’s reaction, stating: “If you mess with me, please be quiet and listen to the verses!” He further asserted, “Those who boo are the enemy, and you lack courage because you won’t boo to my face.”

Following this, Jay Electronica stepped into the crowd, reiterating his stance as he moved among the fans, challenging his critics to express their disapproval directly to him. “Watch how they become silent! They lack courage!” he shouted, further explaining, “My fans know I’m not referring to them. We are on the same side… I came here to confront the adversary. If you want to boo, that’s acceptable; I’ve experienced it before. But have the courage to do it in front of me.”

In one video, he approached a male member of the audience, microphone in hand, offering a reprimand delivered in verse. He recited lines that highlighted his upbringing and work ethic, stating, “Ms. Dorothy raised me up on the psalms of David / Plus worked her whole life, day and night on grave shift / So just know Jay Electronica ain’t to be played with!”

Jay Electronica is currently on his Nineteen Day Reconnaissance Tour, which began last month in Toronto. He has performed in several cities, including Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles, and will continue to Las Vegas on Wednesday (April 8), before moving on to Orlando, Miami, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Virginia Beach. The tour is set to conclude on May 9 in Richmond, Virginia.

The artist is promoting a series of surprise projects released last year: A Written Testimony: Leaflets, A Written Testimony: Power At The Rate of My Dreams, and A Written Testimony: Mars, The Inhabited Planet. In the track “Four Billion, Four Hundred Million 4,400,000,000 / The Worst Is Yet To Come,” he mentioned providing JAY-Z with nineteen albums in one day without receiving payment; however, it remains unclear whether there are plans for additional Jay Electronica releases.
