Nigerian musician Davido has announced a temporary hiatus from music to support the re-election campaign of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

He made the announcement on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilization Team, where he was named chairman of the committee.

Speaking at the event, Davido stated he would take a two-month break from his music career to concentrate on political mobilization efforts throughout the state.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,”

he said.

Davido emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the election, calling the mobilization committee a key component of the campaign structure.

“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths,”

he added.

He encouraged team members to initiate grassroots outreach in Osun’s local government areas, urging them to effectively communicate the governor’s achievements and future plans to residents.

“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilization across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively,”

he stated.

This announcement reflects Davido’s increasing involvement in political and governance matters, particularly in Osun State, where he has shown strong public support for his uncle’s administration.
