Geezer (Kevin Abstract & Dominic Fike) – Doggy

Geezer Kevin Abstract Dominic Fike – Doggy

The standout track on Kevin Abstract’s new album Blush is the collaboration with Dominic Fike, titled “Geezer”. It appears the duo have used the song title as their name and have recently released their debut single, “Doggy,” which features Truly Young and Love Spells.

They were also frequent collaborators on Blush, and their chemistry is clearly evident in this new song. This upbeat alt-rock and pop track is notable for its many instrumental flourishes, including bass lines that descend, understated guitar riffs, airy synthesizer textures, and a straightforward yet captivating rhythmic pattern.

Kevin Abstract and Dominic Fike, in contrast, display a considerable amount of charisma through their half-rapped verses, maintaining a sharp sense of character in the context of a tale about a broken romance. It provides a pleasant contrast to the carefree atmosphere of “Doggy,” particularly since catchy vocal hooks mock a former partner’s dog’s name.

Kevin Abstract’s collaborations elsewhere caused surprise for other reasons. A former member of BROCKHAMPTON reappeared, as Kevin’s collaborations with Ameer Vann are prevalent throughout Blush. Overall, this new album cycle showcases a significant amount of overlap and artistic collaboration, which fans appear to be very pleased with.

No one can predict what Geezer will do next. They have already released multiple collaborations on Blush, and numerous additional tracks are likely to emerge from these sessions. We’ll be interested to see what Hole Earth brings to the table next, whether that’s with Dominic Fike, on his own, or with other artists.
