Erykah Badu & The Alchemist – Next To You

Erykah Badu has returned. The acclaimed neo-soul act has released her first single of the 2020s, which is a precursor to her upcoming album, Abi & Alan. It’s been 15 years since the Dallas singer last released a new album and a decade since the artist’s last project. A key factor in her comeback is the influence of the iconic artist known as The Alchemist.

He will be responsible for creating the entire album Abi & Alan, with his first name included within the LP’s title. We received confirmation in March that this was in the works, thanks to an interview with Billboard. Badu expressed her ongoing affection for hip-hop, an artistic genre she has been closely linked to since its inception.

She was unable to disclose any additional information. She’s genuinely enthusiastic about finally completing this album. Hopefully, with her head bowed, we will be able to listen to her and Uncle Al’s body of work by the end of the year.

Currently, “Next To You” is something to focus on, and it’s a funky neo-soul and R&B track about a love that has Badu under its sway. “She expresses a strong desire to spend time with this person, saying ‘I wanna smoke blunts with you (Music) / I wanna get drunk with you, I do,’ indicating the depth of her feelings.”

Her emotive singing style complements The Alchemist’s psychedelic rhythm that features an entrancing guitar riff. The entire rollout is off to a brilliant beginning. You can locate “Next To You” below.
