Drake Announces The Release Date For ‘Iceman’ Following An Impressive Ice Structure Performance

The anticipation for Drake’s Iceman album is nearing its end.

The artist has announced that his highly awaited ninth album, which marks his first solo release since his notable rap battle with Kendrick Lamar, will debut on May 15.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (April 21) after fans successfully dismantled a large ice structure he had set up in Toronto, unveiling a folder hidden inside.

This package was found by Twitch streamer Kishka, who shared a video of himself opening the weatherproof folder outside Drake’s “Embassy” mansion in Toronto.

Inside, there was a magazine reminiscent of Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Cry, featuring a page stating: “ICEMAN MAY 15,” alongside images of Sexyy Red, Drake’s father Dennis Graham, and Pinocchio—a character associated with Drake’s Iceman promotion that has generated speculation regarding its significance—depicted in crosshairs.

Kishka also received a cash reward from Drake for disclosing the album’s release date.

Drake later confirmed the date via Instagram.

This announcement follows nearly a year of teasers for Iceman, which included a series of livestreams and the singles “What Did I Miss?,” “Which One” featuring UK rapper Central Cee, and the collaboration “Dog House” with Yeat and Julia Wolf.

During a concert in Australia last year, he mentioned to fans: “When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album, a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.”

While more information about Iceman is still limited, media figure and OVO insider Mal offered insights into the project, suggesting it includes “some of the best rapping I’ve ever heard from Drake.”

He stated, “Y’all don’t even know what Drake is preparing to do [with Iceman]. The music he’s created, the way he’s getting ready to entertain the culture, it’s on a whole different level,” during an episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast.

Mal also mentioned that the album would clarify who the leading artist is, referencing Drake’s competitive dynamic with Kendrick Lamar.

Iceman will follow Drizzy’s collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 last February with nearly 250,000 sales in its first week.
