Don Toliver & Speedy – LV Bag ft. j-hope & Pharrell Williams

Don Toliver is enlisting the help of first-time collaborator j-hope from BTS and renowned artist Pharrell Williams for his song “LV Bag.” This marks the Houston, Texas native’s first single in quite some time. Counting “DONNY DARKO” as one of the two releases that precede the HARDSTONE PSYCHO (DELUXE), it has been since June 24. If that’s not the case, it reverts to May 22 with “Attitude” by Charlie Wilson and Cash Cobain. His fourth studio album achieved significant commercial success. The album went on to achieve its best sales during its first week, with 77,000 copies sold. It managed to stay off the charts, rising to only the third spot. The sophomore album from the DON, titled Life of a DON, reached number two upon its release.

Given the success of HARDSTONE PSYCHO and its bonus edition, it is crucial that Don Toliver’s future solo projects meet high standards. Fortunately, the “LV Bag” meets the challenge. Pharrell Williams, who is wearing his role as a producer this time, maintains a fairly uncomplicated approach. Recently, he’s been doing that in songs such as The Weeknd’s “Timeless,” for instance. One of the biggest hits has been this over the past several months. There’s no need to alter the existing formula. He’s here with a backdrop of shimmering synthesizers, watery keyboard sounds, thumping basslines and powerful kick drums. The tempo is a slow and steady one, which allows Don Toliver and j-hope to seamlessly transition over the instrumental track. This summertime-ready tune is boastful and addictively catchy, keeping your attention all the way through from beginning to end.
