DJ 808 – Shenk Me ft. Mavo

Nigerian DJ and producer DJ 808 collaborates with Mavo on “Shenk Me,” a mid-tempo party track that explores themes of heartbreak.

The song combines dramatic elements with a danceable rhythm. Mavo, an artist from Kilogbede Records known for his rapid Pidgin lyrics, narrates a tale of unexpected heartbreak and rejection. His empathetic delivery allows listeners to connect with the emotional narrative while maintaining the upbeat tempo. DJ 808 supports this with a prominent kick drum, sharp shakers, and flowing basslines, complemented by bright synthesizer chords that keep the energy high without overwhelming the vocals.

Some consider it to be Amapiano, featuring a dance-friendly tempo of 112 beats per minute, with LUNO Records as the releasing label. This blend of Amapiano rhythm and Nigerian street vernacular aligns with current trends in club music. It also reflects Mavo’s musical style, characterized by lively slang and memorable hooks, evident in tracks such as “Find My Babe,” “BODY (danz),” and “Escaladizzy II.” He has also collaborated on “MONEY CONSTANT” with DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tunez, and Wizkid.

For DJ 808, this partnership introduces an emerging talent to his discography. The single is already appearing on trending lists at Xclusiveloaded, indicating that it is gaining traction among listeners. Songs that address heartbreak yet offer a danceable beat tend to have lasting appeal beyond typical party anthems.

This track may be ideal for those seeking an engaging beat accompanied by an intriguing story, making it suitable for the weekend.
