ASAP Rocky is seeking to establish himself as a major player among rap’s elite. On the evening of Saturday, March 15, a Harlem-based rapper was the main performer at the kickoff of Rolling Loud California in Inglewood for the year 2025, and despite arriving fashionably late, he more than made up for it with a further high-energy set.

“Right now, I’m having trouble choosing where my allegiance lies – I’m not supporting Cole, I’m not supporting Drake, and I’m not supporting Kendrick,” Rocky said in a new song preview while grasping the side of a helicopter from a height of several feet. He went on, “I’m choosing to focus on homicide, they’re going to see a different perspective.”

A Look At Why ASAP Rocky Referenced The Big Three At The 2025 Rolling Loud California Event

Clearly, the three artists he mentioned were right in the midst of one of 2024’s most significant rap feuds, largely due to Kendrick Lamar’s incendiary verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” Rocky’s name emerged at least once following the underwhelming response to “7 Minute Drill,” at which point Cole withdrew.

Drake unloaded on “Family Matters,” claiming he wasn’t even aware you still rapped because people were only talking about your outfit again. The jab dropped shortly after the ASAP Mob leader had received his own vaccination on the track “Show of Hands” from the album WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU by Future and Metro Boomin.

Notably, Lamar was recently mentioned alongside ASAP Relli on Playboi Carti’s “GOOD CREDIT.” The Compton rapper reportedly stated, “Eliantte’s going big, a white gold chain falling onto the stomach/ The emerald cuff is for both of them, and she’s on point, just like ASAP Relli.” Rocky’s former associate-turned-nemesis was also seemingly mentioned later in his performance.

Was ASAP Rocky Criticizing J. Cole, Drake, And Kendrick Lamar?

The more pertinent issue is whether Rocky can genuinely match up against Lamar. The choice is between Cole or Drake. It’s likely that the answer is no. The boastful lyrics establish an energizing atmosphere for Don’t Be Dumb, a track from Fashion Killa that is expected to be released in 2025.

Notwithstanding that, Rocky’s Rolling Loud performance was not his most impressive, yet under the given conditions, he still managed to deliver an engaging show. If his upcoming fourth studio album results in a full-fledged tour, there’s a chance he’ll refine the disorder into something even more exhilarating.
