Davido To Lead FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert

Nigerian artist Davido has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert, which is set to take place in Los Angeles on June 10, two days prior to the tournament’s commencement.

FIFA announced that Davido will perform alongside the electronic music group Major Lazer, directed by producer and DJ Diplo, as they kick off the U.S. portion of this significant celebration.

The concert will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with doors opening at 5 p.m. PT and the live broadcast starting at 6 p.m. PT. Tickets will go on sale on June 3 at 10 a.m. PST.

The event is part of a unique tri-nation live music experience aimed at connecting audiences across all three host countries of the FIFA World Cup 2026 simultaneously.

While Davido and Major Lazer perform in Los Angeles, fans in Canada and Mexico will be included in the same broadcast. In Toronto, performers will include Bryan Adams, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, AHI, and Wyclef Jean. Mexico City’s lineup includes Los Angeles Azules, Belinda, and Elena Rose.

The event, developed in collaboration with the Recording Academy, aims to unite fans through football, music, and culture as excitement builds for the tournament’s opening matches.

Davido’s participation as a leading act underscores the increasing global impact of Nigerian music and Afrobeats. This performance coincides with a notable time for African artists on the international scene.

Nigerian artist Rema has also been announced for the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony, while Burna Boy recently collaborated with Shakira on “Daï Daï,” a key song associated with the tournament.

With billions of viewers anticipated to tune in for FIFA World Cup events worldwide, Davido’s performance at the Countdown Concert signifies another important milestone in the ascension of Afrobeats on the global stage.
