Davido Discusses How Marriage Influenced His Lifestyle Choices

Nigerian Grammy-nominated artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, has discussed how marriage has influenced his lifestyle and priorities.

During his appearance on The Long Form podcast, the Afrobeats musician shared insights about his personal development, noting a shift from being an “outsider” to embracing a more home-oriented lifestyle.

Davido reflected on his early fame, which was characterized by unrestricted freedom, wealth, and influence, leading him to a more reckless, party-centric lifestyle. However, he indicated that those times are largely behind him.

“Achieving fame at a young age, along with freedom, power, and money, led to my recklessness. I used to go to the club every day,” he said.

Currently, his definition of enjoyment has changed significantly.

“These days, I don’t even go to the clubs. I was in Nigeria for almost two months and I didn’t go out. I was just at home, having fun. I was chilling in my studio, inviting people to make barbecue for me. It was enjoyable. Before you know it, it’s 3 am or 4:30 am. I just go home, call my wife, and fall asleep on FaceTime.”

He emphasized that while he still attends parties and public events when necessary, his family now takes precedence. Quiet evenings, creative endeavors, and time spent with his wife, Chioma, have become more important than nightlife, a change he seems to embrace fully.

This new phase reflects a more grounded perspective for the globally recognized artist, illustrating that personal growth can involve prioritizing home life over public attention.
