Burna Boy Takes Responsibility For Funeral Expenses of Stockton Mass Shooting Victims

Nigerian musician Burna Boy has reportedly committed to covering the funeral costs for four young victims who were killed during a mass shooting at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California. The incident took place last Saturday (Nov. 29) at Monkey Space, a banquet hall located in an unincorporated area of San Joaquin County. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, police reported that the ages of the deceased victims ranged from 8 to 21, with additional injuries reported.

Burna Boy stated that he first learned about the incident while listening to “The Breakfast Club.” He expressed his condolences to the families affected and underscored his intention to offer support. “When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke,” he reportedly remarked. “No family should ever face this kind of pain alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”

To provide his assistance, the artist reached out to Wack 100, who helped connect him with Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee. Lee released a statement expressing gratitude to Burna Boy for his support to local families. “Let his generosity serve as an example: So many people want to help but may not know how, and our community needs that support now more than ever,” the politician commented, according to SFC.

Among the victims was 14-year-old Amari Peterson from Modesto, who was featured in a GoFundMe campaign highlighting his involvement in sports and his plans for college. As of this report, the names of the other three victims have not been disclosed.

Authorities have arrested two individuals on parole who are suspected to have attended the event, although neither was involved in the shooting. Additional reports, including one from the New York Post, indicated that rapper MBnel was among those injured. His father stated that the Stockton native, who currently resides outside Sacramento, returned to the city to attend the party and was shot, along with his wife.
