Burna Boy Achieves New Record With Certification In New Zealand

Nigerian artist Burna Boy is gaining recognition internationally, with New Zealand emerging as a significant supporter of his music.

The artist from Port Harcourt has recently achieved another milestone by extending his record as the most certified African musician in New Zealand.

His latest achievement came with the gold certification of ‘WGFT,’ a collaboration with American rapper Gunna. This award brings Burna Boy’s total to 16 certifications in New Zealand, a record that no other African artist has achieved in the country.

New Zealand has shown strong support for the artist, whose extensive collection of albums and singles has resonated with both fans and critics. Burna Boy has received three 6x platinum certifications in New Zealand for his popular songs, including ‘Last Last,’ ‘Location‘ featuring Nigerian-British rapper Dave, ‘Own It‘ with British hip-hop star Stormzy, ‘Be Honest‘ featuring British singer Jorja Smith, his influential single ‘YE‘ from 2018, and ‘It’s Plenty‘ from his 2023 album Love, Damini.

Additionally, he has earned 10 gold plaques for well-received tracks such as ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World,’ ‘City Boys,’ ‘Real Life,’ featuring Stormzy, and ‘Alone‘ from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, all of which achieved significant commercial success in New Zealand.

This successful streak emphasizes Burna Boy’s role as a prominent representative of Afrobeats on the global music scene. His influence is also evident in the sold-out concerts he has performed across America and Europe, where audiences continue to enjoy his distinct sound and energy.
