Big Sean Appointed As Creative Director of Global Experience For The Detroit Pistons

Big Sean has been appointed as the Detroit Pistons’ new Creative Director of Global Experience. The NBA team announced his new role on December 21, coinciding with World Basketball Day.

According to a press release, Sean will collaborate with the Pistons on community engagement and global fan development initiatives. He may also participate in the team’s cultural partnerships, international events, and other fan experiences.

Sean expressed his commitment to the Pistons community, stating that this expanded role allows him to contribute on a larger scale. He highlighted Detroit’s rich talent and culture, emphasizing his mission to hire local creatives to work alongside the franchise.

He also expressed gratitude to the Pistons for the opportunity to help shape the culture of Detroit Basketball. A notable aspect of the partnership is the Creatives Across Continents initiative, aimed at inviting artists and designers to create original work inspired by Detroit Basketball.

In 2026, Sean and the Pistons plan to launch a collaborative retail collection featuring designs from the chosen participants.

Detroit Pistons EVP and Chief Marketing Officer Alicia Jeffreys remarked on Sean’s influence, highlighting his role as a global creative visionary who represents Detroit. She noted that as Creative Director of Global Experience, he will contribute authenticity and creativity to the Pistons brand, with the Creatives Across Continents initiative serving as a way to introduce Detroit Basketball to a wider audience.
