Nigerian singer Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, has found himself in the spotlight after it was reported that he has started accepting responsibility for his alleged father, Fatai Odunsi, amid widespread public criticism.
Recently, Odunsi publicly appealed for financial aid as a result of his rapidly declining health. He expressed disappointment in a viral video about his son’s lack of presence in his life, stating that Asake had not reached out to him for an extended period. The woman who is reportedly the mother of his child has spoken out, describing her involvement in his life and fueling further controversy.
Odunsi claimed in a recent interview with online influencer Mr. Lilgaga that he has put past differences with the singer Asake behind him, as Asake has taken action to secure his medical care. The singer has apparently told his staff to locate a house for him and has also vowed to assume responsibility for his supposed abandoned child.
Odunsi was questioned by Mr. Lilgaga during the interview about whether he had been a responsible father figure to Asake during his formative years. He maintained that his efforts were the best he could do, arguing that no one could dispute this. Locals from Isale Eko, where Odunsi is based, also allegedly corroborated that he was accountable for the musician’s rearing.
Responding to the allegations, Asake recently posted a freestyle video on social media in which he rapped in Yoruba. He appeared to address the controversy in the clip, singing, “You can’t satisfy the entire world.” Ensure that everything you do is in the name of God and keep in mind the day of our mortality. Don’t you see how everything is unfolding? My own father is trying to undermine me, yet I remain standing and in good physical condition. You can’t switch off my lamp.
The reaction to the song lyrics has been varied, with numerous people speculating that Asake was subtly referencing his alleged father in the music.
