Album: Vince Staples – Cry Baby

Vince Staples has released his sixth studio album, Cry Baby, following the release of 2024’s Dark Times. While the previous project focused on the challenges of success and survival, Cry Baby adopts a darker and more confrontational tone. The album description indicates that Vince incorporates influences from noise rock, post-punk, and distorted Americana to explore the tensions, absurdities, and emotional complexities of contemporary life in America. Early singles such as “Blackberry Marmalade” have already revealed a more gritty sound, accompanied by visuals reminiscent of first-person shooter video games and allusions to Martin Luther King Jr. Throughout the past decade, Vince Staples has developed a distinctive style within the rap genre, and this album seems to continue that innovative trend.
