A Representative From The White House Expressed Gratitude To SZA For Increasing Awareness Of A Pro-ICE Advertisement After She Referred To It As “Evil”

A representative of the White House has addressed SZA’s comments regarding their pro-ICE advertisement, which she described as “evil” and “boring.”

On December 10, the singer expressed her frustration on social media after the White House used her song “Big Boys,” which was featured in an “SNL” skit from December 2022. She remarked that the White House’s attempt to engage artists for promotion was an example of “PEAK DARK” and criticized the previous administration for its perceived inhumanity and use of aggressive tactics.

This tweet was in response to Terrence “Punch” Henderson from TDE, who stated that trying to provoke artists to further political agendas is unethical behavior.

In a statement to People, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson acknowledged SZA’s comments, stating, “Thank you, SZA, for drawing even more attention to the tremendous work America’s ICE officers are doing by arresting dangerous criminal illegal aliens from American communities.”

The White House had previously shared a short video clip showing ICE agents making arrests, accompanied by the caption, “WE HEARD IT’S CUFFING SZN,” alluding to SZA’s song.

SZA is not the only artist to criticize the Trump administration regarding its stance on ICE. During the 2025 BET Awards in June, Doechii addressed the protests occurring in Los Angeles, highlighting governmental responses to demonstrations. In November, Kehlani also spoke out against ICE’s actions, accusing them of detaining individuals in various public spaces and expressing concerns over racial profiling.
