A$AP Rocky has released new music, including two songs, “Trunks” and “Both Eyes Closed.”

The songs are featured in the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime film High and Low. In the film, Rocky stars alongside Denzel Washington, Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, and Ice Spice, with today’s nationwide release scheduled for August 15.

The new material combines Rocky’s sharp lyricism with cinematic elements, enhancing the intense, high-stakes mood of Lee’s film adaptation.

Rocky’s creative momentum goes beyond the recording studio. Lee’s drama paired with A24’s unconventional satire is set to demonstrate Rocky’s versatility on the large screen.

The Harlem-born artist has achieved career milestones in recent times amidst a challenging year on multiple fronts. The film’s lead actor and Rocky originate from the same area in Harlem, New York.

Rocky is set to embark on a revitalized new chapter in 2025 amidst a flurry of new music, film projects, and high-profile personal milestones. His dual presence in both the on-screen aspect and the sonic landscape of Highest 2 Lowest highlights his capacity to traverse multiple creative domains without compromising his sense of self. For long-time listeners, “Trunks” and “Both Eyes Closed” provide evidence that his artistic edge remains unaltered.

This year’s moves from Rocky demonstrate a career in full swing, balancing music, film, and public interest. As Don’t Be Dumb nears its release, his latest work suggests an artist who wants to expand his legacy far beyond the stage.
