Stonebwoy, Sarkodie Trade Words Online Over Alleged Social Media Shots

Ghanaian musicians Stonebwoy and Sarkodie are currently involved in an online disagreement after a series of exchanges revealed differing perspectives regarding their relationship and expectations within the music industry.

The situation began with a social media message from Sarkodie, which sparked a conversation about loyalty and professional relationships, as well as the consistency of their private discussions.

On September 7, Sarkodie addressed his fanbase, SarkNation, encouraging them to support his music without belittling other artists. He warned against fan conflicts and advised artists not to encourage their supporters to attack other musicians in the name of loyalty.

Stonebwoy later responded, questioning whether Sarkodie’s message was consistent with his actions and previous discussions they had shared privately.

According to Stonebwoy, he contacted Sarkodie after his performance at Royal Albert Hall in the UK, resulting in a conversation that lasted over 10 minutes. However, he stated that the situation became complex after his own performance at OVO Arena Wembley, when Sarkodie allegedly posted a video that Stonebwoy interpreted as an indirect message.

Stonebwoy emphasized that only Sarkodie could clarify the intent behind that post. He eventually reached out to Sarkodie to address what he viewed as a series of cryptic social media messages. This subsequent conversation reportedly lasted for over an hour and covered industry relationships and their differing approaches to various situations.

Stonebwoy mentioned that Sarkodie indicated artists might not always adhere to specific principles and could make decisions based on personal benefit. Using this stance to challenge Sarkodie’s public advice, Stonebwoy concluded his response with, “Without PRINCIPLE, advice is an OPINION.”

In response, Sarkodie strongly refuted Stonebwoy’s interpretation of their conversation. He denied suggesting that artists should act solely in their own interest and accused Stonebwoy of misrepresenting their private discussion.

Sarkodie rejected the notion that his social media posts were aimed at Stonebwoy and questioned why the latter perceived them as indirect criticisms. He explained that he typically refrains from engaging in speculation based on social media behavior.

Sarkodie stated that he chose to respond publicly only because Stonebwoy raised the topic directly. He clarified that his position during their private conversation pertained to personal choice, asserting that while individuals can choose to forgive or maintain relationships, they cannot dictate how others handle similar situations.

He also referred to Stonebwoy’s associations with people who had previously disrespected him, stating that he did not view these relationships as endorsements of negative behavior. Sarkodie emphasized that mutual respect could exist despite differing opinions or associations.

He maintained that their common goal should be to seek opportunities for success together, even if they do not always agree.

Sarkodie further highlighted instances where he made efforts to foster a positive relationship with Stonebwoy, such as inviting him to perform at Royal Albert Hall and congratulating him on his accomplishments. He expressed disappointment that a matter he believed could remain private had become a public debate.

The exchange has brought renewed attention to the relationship between the two prominent Ghanaian artists, with fans and industry observers discussing issues of loyalty, principle, professional relationships, and perceived disrespect.

Currently, Stonebwoy asserts that his concerns are focused on consistency and principles, while Sarkodie maintains that his words and social media actions have been misinterpreted and were never meant as personal attacks.
