Man Found Not Guilty In Young Dolph’s Murder; Faces Charges for Cyberstalking

UPDATE (June 16):

Hernandez Govan’s attorney, Claiborne H. Ferguson, has provided a statement to XXL regarding the case:

“We are disappointed that the court has decided to detain Mr. Govan until the completion of his prosecution. We believe he was entitled to bail and will continue to pursue this matter. We will be appealing the decision.”

ORIGINAL STORY (June 16):

Hernandez Govan, who was acquitted in the murder of Young Dolph, is back in court following allegations of cyberstalking a woman.

On June 12, Hernandez Govan was arrested on accusations of making threatening calls and sending messages to his former girlfriend earlier in the month, raising concerns for the safety of her and her child.

According to court documents obtained by Naijahomelnd, Memphis Police responded to a domestic violence-related call on June 4 after the woman reported receiving threatening texts from Govan.

Investigators indicated that the alleged dispute arose from approximately $540 Govan had given the woman for a rental car. After issues with the booking, she claimed he instructed her to keep the money but later demanded it back and allegedly threatened her.

The woman expressed fear for her safety and that of her child, requesting that officers check her home to ensure Govan was not present. The documents revealed that he learned about the police surveillance and subsequently texted her, “The National Guard can’t save you, they can’t be there forever.”

She also accused Govan of threatening to share explicit videos of her online and claimed he threatened to have someone attack her home.

Following his arrest, Govan’s bond was set at $4,000, but WREG reports that he remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday afternoon (June 18). If he posts bond, he is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, possessing firearms, or communicating via social media.

This new federal case arises less than a year after Govan was found not guilty in the high-profile trial related to the 2021 murder of Young Dolph. Prosecutors had alleged that Govan assisted in orchestrating the fatal shooting, but a jury ultimately acquitted him.
