Cardi B And Biggie Are Meerkats Welcoming Their Fifth Litter Of Pups

Two meerkats named Cardi B and Biggie have welcomed their fifth litter at a safari park in Scotland.

Last month, Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park announced the birth of the new pups, which occurred on May 5. The pair has now added five pups to their family since joining the zoo in 2022.

Officials report that the newborns spent their initial weeks hidden underground, as they are born blind, deaf, and nearly hairless. Meerkats typically thrive in close-knit groups called mobs, with older siblings helping to care for and protect the young. After a few weeks, the pups will begin to open their eyes and eat solid food. They first emerged from their underground habitat on May 29.

“The pups are starting to find their feet, and you can already see their personalities emerging,” stated Carolyn Booth, a team leader at the zoo. “It’s an excellent stage to witness, and the entire mob has contributed to raising them. The group dynamic is fascinating to observe at this size.”

This marks the fifth time Cardi B and Biggie have become parents. Last year, they welcomed four pups on September 28, increasing their family to a total of 19 meerkats in their habitat.
