Lil Tjay has responded to Offset following his arrest in connection with the shooting of the former Migos rapper. Offset was hospitalized on April 6 with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

According to police, Tjay, who has had ongoing disputes with Offset in recent years, was arrested and charged in relation to the incident. He is alleged to have instigated a confrontation with Offset that resulted in the shooting.

Jail records indicate that Tjay was booked on a disorderly conduct charge and released on bond the following day. Upon leaving jail, the 24-year-old engaged with reporters and criticized Offset, labeling him a “rat.”

He stated, “The last thing I saw was Offset looking at me like this, ‘Yo, that [expletive] shot me! That [expletive] shot me!’ That [expletive] is a rat. I didn’t do any fighting … Did I shoot Offset? That’s crazy.”

When questioned about whether Offset had physically confronted him, Tjay responded aggressively, saying, “I’ll smack the [expletive] out of Offset. He would never play with me like that in his life.”

A probable cause affidavit indicates that Lil Tjay “directed members of his entourage to start a fight with another group of males” in the valet area of the casino. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Tjay pointing at Offset before approaching him with his associates. During the conflict, an associate of Tjay allegedly drew a firearm and fired, resulting in injuries to Offset.

The affidavit notes that “sworn statements were taken from the victims who stated that they were caring for their wounded friend [Offset] when the defendant [Lil Tjay] approached them in an aggressive manner with fists clenched and taking swings at them.” Tjay is also accused of recording the incident on his phone.

Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, previously denied any involvement in the shooting, stating, “Lil Tjay has not been shot nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false.”

A second individual detained at the scene has not faced charges, and police indicated that the investigation into other persons involved in the incident is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Offset continues to recover at Memorial Regional Hospital and was seen smoking a cigarette in a wheelchair outside the facility.

The conflict between the two artists dates back to last year when Lil Tjay accused Offset of being “broke” and owing him money due to a “gambling addiction.” During a Twitch stream in January 2025, Tjay claimed he had lent Offset $5,000 at a casino and was owed over $10,000. He also shared alleged screenshots threatening to “smack the whole [expletive] out of Offset” if he did not receive his money.

After further provocations from Lil Tjay months later, Offset challenged him to a fight on Instagram, stating, “Let’s hit on live I’ll fly to you this ain’t gonna stop ya fell off allegations.”
