The Met Gala has announced the theme for its 2026 edition, indicating another notable evening of fashion and entertainment.

Scheduled for May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute will once again be organized by Anna Wintour.

According to Vogue, this year’s dress code is “Fashion Is Art,” in line with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition theme, “Costume Art.” The red carpet directive aligns with the museum’s showcase, allowing for creative interpretation.

The exhibition will focus on the “centrality of the dressed body” and will include over 400 items, such as historical garments from the Costume Institute’s collection, works of art, and other artifacts. Attendees are anticipated to merge the realms of fashion and fine art, effectively transforming the red carpet into an expressive gallery.

While the official guest list has not been disclosed, a few prominent figures have been confirmed. After a ten-year hiatus, Beyoncé will make her return as a co-chair, alongside actress Nicole Kidman, tennis player Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. Billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos will act as honorary co-chairs.

Members of the Gala Host Committee expected to attend include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, and Teyana Taylor, all of whom participated on the red carpet last year.

Although not officially confirmed, there is speculation about the possible attendance of several past Met Gala attendees. Cardi B, who has been a regular since her debut in 2018, often appears on best-dressed lists. Rihanna, another frequent attendee, famously announced her third pregnancy at last year’s event.

Bad Bunny, whose Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour coincides with the event date, is also rumored to return following several impressive appearances in recent years.

With a theme as broad as “Fashion Is Art” and a guest list featuring notable figures, the 2026 Met Gala is set to be an event of significant artistic expression.
