South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, surpassing notable contenders from Nigeria.

She received the award for her single Push 2 Start, outperforming Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love.

This category, created to highlight African music on the international stage, once again showcased Nigeria’s prominence in the continent’s music industry, with Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr receiving nominations.
