Cash Cobain expressed his views on the increasing use of AI in music during Billboard’s 2025 No. 1s Livestream on December 9. He stated that he does not support artists who utilize artificial intelligence to create entire songs from scratch. For someone who values originality and vibe in his work, he sees this trend as a shortcut that undermines the culture.

“I don’t agree with using AI to come up with a whole song,” he remarked during the event. “I agree with using an AI voice or AI over sound, but as far as generating a whole song, I disagree. That’s not fair for real.”

He made a clear distinction between using AI ethically to enhance a recording session—such as restoring vocals for artists whose voices have changed over time—and completely replacing human creativity. He mentioned artists like The D.O.C. and Beanie Sigel as individuals who could benefit from technology in a respectful manner, but emphasized that creating entire tracks through AI goes too far.

Cobain was surprised to learn that AI-generated artists might soon be able to compete on Billboard charts and potentially achieve a No. 1 hit. “That’s scary,” he admitted. This shift is already occurring, as evidenced by Xania Monet, a fully AI-created R&B artist who signed a multimillion-dollar deal and debuted at No. 30 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart with “How Was I Supposed to Know?”

In addition to his thoughts on AI, Cash is generating excitement for his next project. The 27-year-old hinted that Drake could feature on his upcoming album, Party With Slizzy, stating, “God is great. He has to be on the new album,” during an interview with HOT 97’s Nessa Diab.

Cash and Drake have previously collaborated on tracks like “SOMEBODY LOVES ME PT. 2” and “Calling For You,” and Cash indicated that they have additional music ready. He also mentioned that Sexyy Red and Travis Scott are among his top choices for collaborations as he continues to develop the project. With PLAY CASH COBAIN set for release in 2024, fans are looking forward to a new full-length album, and his latest comments heighten that expectation.
