Grizzly Touring took legal action against Rod Wave, prompting him to file a countersuit, following the cancellation of his “Last Lap Tour” in the previous month. On Sunday, October 12, a lawsuit was filed in which the rapper claimed that the promoter’s allegations were groundless and an unfortunate consequence of previous failed efforts to bind him to a contract that is impractical to fulfill.

“According to legal documents obtained by Billboard, it’s stated that Grizzly is not entitled to the improperly requested specific performance or equivalent injunctive relief, which essentially equates to an indentured servitude, as reported on Monday, October 13.”

Grizzly has lost the confidence of Rod Wave’s defendants as their tour promoter and they no longer wish to perform services for Grizzly or receive services from Grizzly.

The “Sinners” artist frequently discovered that his performances had been rearranged only shortly before they were due to take place. He also claimed that only 12 of the 35 planned tour dates took place as originally scheduled.

As a result, Rod Wave is seeking financial compensation from Grizzly, alleging a breach of contract and reputational damage resulting from his “understandably outraged” fans.

Key Facts Surrounding Grizzly Touring’s Initial Litigation

Grizzly Touring reportedly stated that it had secured a deal to cover Rod Wave for $40,250,000 across 35 performances, with half of that total paid in advance. The company claimed that the rapper had only performed at 26 shows since the “Last Lap Tour” commenced in October 2024 and has subsequently declined to repay a single penny to them.

Lawyers for the “Heart on Ice” hitmaker’s promoters claim that he earned approximately $30 million from the show run, leaving him owing $27 million, plus further damages resulting from breaching his contract. Grizzly Touring claimed that Rod Wave unfairly shifted the responsibility for the canceled performances to them while simultaneously announcing a new tour through his own company.

In January, Rod Wave stated that the tour was “completely messed up from the start” when he announced that he was cancelling the remaining dates. “It’s unfair if the stage and lighting aren’t constructed properly, especially since I spent over $13 million on it; it’s not right for you to see a partially finished show.”

Rod Wave has already begun another tour.

Rod Wave stated that he will embark on his “The Redemption Experience Tour” in December, despite Grizzly’s efforts to prevent him from doing so.

A seven-city trek is scheduled to commence in December. The tour will visit 7 venues, including Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Fort Worth, and Atlanta, and conclude on January 2, 2026, at Miami’s Kaseya Center. Tickets for pre-sale go on sale on Tuesday, October 14, at 10 a.m. local time, with general ticket sales beginning at the same time on Thursday, October 16.

“Earlier this month, Rod Wave announced plans for a return to touring in December, coinciding with the release of his latest single ‘Leavin,’ along with its accompanying music video.” View the advertisement that follows.
