Megan Thee Stallion achieved a small win in her ongoing lawsuit for defamation against Milagro Gramz. On Thursday, October 9, Judge Lisette M. Reid imposed sanctions against the blogger for removing “thousands of text messages”.

The defendant, formerly known as Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, was legally required to keep and maintain paper and electronic communications associated with the case. Gramz was formally informed of those “retention and preservation duties” by Megan’s legal team the day prior to the suit being submitted.

“According to legal documents, Defendant deleted thousands of text messages and removed the WhatsApp app from her phone, despite the given written notice and her underlying legal obligations, which potentially contained messages and chats.” The rapper may never be able to verify the content of those messages, but the court permitted the jury to infer that the information would have harmed Gramz’s case.

Megan initially claimed in her complaint that Gramz functioned as a “mouthpiece” for Tory Lanez, who is now serving a 10-year sentence for shooting her in the foot, and collaborated with Canadian rapper Sonstar Peterson, Tory Lanez’s father, to initiate a “campaign of harassment” against her.

Judge Reid also decreed that, as a result, Gramz must pay the “reasonable amount of fees and costs incurred to bring the spoliation issue to the court’s notice,” including expenses associated with the evidentiary hearing. The blogger and Megan’s legal team were required to meet and confer within five days to establish the costs involved.

Only a few months prior, in July, Gramz had earlier been required to pay $5,000 in attorney fees for Megan to cover the expense of “requiring the disclosure” of the YouTuber’s text messages. She was granted a 30-day period in which to make the payment.

Following the shooting incident involving Lanez, Megan has often been the target of online abuse from his fans in recent years. By 2024, the Grammy-winning rapper had reached her limit and took legal action against blogger Gramz, who allegedly distributed a fake, explicit video of her, among other accusations.
