Nigerian singer Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, known professionally as Portable, has finally spoken out about the widely circulated video depicting him in a heated altercation at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The Zeh Nation leader explained in a series of videos posted online that he did not instigate the fight but was provoked by a group of drivers while waiting for his ride.

Portable had only just arrived in Port Harcourt to perform and was waiting outside the airport with his team for their car to arrive. At this time, several commercial drivers allegedly approached him to see if they could provide him with a ride. When he refused and said he was waiting for his own pickup, the drivers allegedly started filming him and ridiculing him.

He alleged that they labelled him “stingy” and blamed him for not giving them money, despite his efforts to dismiss their insults. Portable reported that the harassment persisted until an immigration officer became aware of the situation.

The singer stated that he only responded when the harassment became intolerable, claiming he was simply defending himself. According to him, he was not engaging in a fight with airport security or fellow passengers, but rather facing the drivers who had provoked him.

Portable said he had brought out the charm only to scare the drivers off, and he also told them to go and meet President Tinubu if they were looking for money, warning that disrespecting the president could lead to trouble.

The street-hop artist has previously been involved in a public dispute. Recently, Portable was also recorded on video in a clash with some men in Ikeja, Lagos, following which he posted his own account of the events online.
