21 Savage’s ‘WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS?’ Debuts At No. 3 On The Billboard 200

The figures have been released for 21 Savage’s album WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? On December 21, Billboard reported that the rapper’s surprise fourth studio album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

According to the publication, the album moved a total of 73,000 album-equivalent units, with 48,000 of those stemming from SEA units (which equates to approximately 65.83 million on-demand streams), while the remaining 25,000 were from pure sales. Alongside the streaming edition — which featured the Drake-assisted track “MR RECOUP” — Savage also released four limited-edition CDs in collaboration with designer Olaolu Slawn.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? marks Savage’s seventh project to debut in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200. His previous album, american dream, began at No. 1 in 2024.

In terms of how WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? compares to other Atlanta rap releases in 2025, it ranks in the middle. Playboi Carti’s MUSIC currently holds the top spot for Hip Hop debuts with 298,000 units, followed by Lil Baby’s WHAM at 140,000 units.

Gunna’s The Last Wun achieved a No. 3 debut on the Billboard 200 in August with 80,000 units, slightly surpassing Savage’s figures. Interestingly, Young Thug’s UY SCUTI only sold 52,000 units in its first week.

It is worth noting that WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? was released on streaming services just days after its announcement, which suggests it might have achieved a higher chart position with a full marketing rollout. Nonetheless, fans appear to appreciate the 14-track project, which includes collaborations with various artists such as GloRilla, G Herbo, Metro Boomin, and Lil Baby.

As highlighted in a review by Rap-Up, Latto seemed to reference her rumored relationship with Savage in the track “POP IT,” while he paid tribute to lost figures in Hip Hop with the emotional closing song, “I WISH.” The album is available for streaming below.
