Rapper Yung Miami has caused a social media uproar after accusing South African pop singer Tyla of plagiarizing the concept for her upcoming song, Chanel.

The City Girls rapper posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, October 16, 2025, stating that Tyla’s new song bears a close resemblance to an unreleased track she had shared with the Grammy-winning artist earlier.

Yung Miami expressed confusion saying, “This girl has completely taken my song and I’m not sure how to react,” stating she had given Chanel to Tyla personally before Tyla started hinting at her own rendition. The rapper subsequently posted another update with the words, “Like…..” “I’m completely baffled!” and later doubled down, writing, “It doesn’t matter, it’s my own song!!!

The controversy revolves around the lyrical theme of the word Chanel, with both tracks allegedly containing luxury-inspired melodies. Yung Miami stated that her version included the lyrics “Take me to Chanel,” whereas Tyla’spreviewed track is said to repeat “Put me in Chanel.”

Tyla, famous worldwide for her song Water, which went viral, has not yet commented on the accusations. She premiered Chanel at a private fan listening event in July 2025, describing it as part of her WWP EP, a project designed to bridge her next album.

The online debate over the controversy rapidly polarized fans, with some supporters defending Tyla’s originality while others sided with Yung Miami’s accusations of intellectual property theft.

Neither artist has made official statements beyond their social media posts, however, both fan groups, the Ravers and the City Girls’ supporters, are heavily weighing in, which continues to drive discussion on social media platforms.
