The authorities in Georgia are still far from finished with Young Thug. Although the Atlanta rapper accepted a plea deal and was able to avoid prison with probation in the notorious Young Stoner Life Records RICO case, his home state is trying to hold onto the seized assets it was instructed to return.

A court filing posted online on Tuesday, September 23, indicates that the State of Georgia is challenging a prior decision requiring the return of previously confiscated property belonging to the rapper. According to the document, Georgia, the plaintiff, is trying to recover approximately $150,000 worth of property.

Young Thug’s legal team cited a delay in the hearing for the forfeiture as a reason to dismiss the civil forfeiture lawsuit connected to the RICO case. In August, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker of Fulton County Superior Court ruled in Young Thug’s favor and ordered his property to be returned. The items purportedly consisted of approximately $145,000 in cash, along with a Chevrolet Corvette, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mercedes-Benz vehicles, multiple firearms, assorted jewellery and further items.

The judge, Whitaker, stated that the state still has the option to appeal. About a month following the initial judgment, the state lodged its appeal on September 19. The plaintiffs assert that it was a motion previously submitted by Young Thug’s legal team that led to the delay. The So Much Fun creator’s chains and whips remain in a state of uncertainty as this case continues to unfold in court.

“We are pleased that the defendant won’t receive gang-related jewelry, but we’re puzzled that Judge Whitaker dropped the case after defence counsel asked for a timeline and the court set a trial date,” Deputy District Attorney Jeff DiSantis said in August, per Fox 5 Atlanta. “We are currently assessing the case for potential appeal, taking into account its unusual procedural background.”

As Thugger’s court proceedings unfold, he has been contending with a multitude of leaked jail phone calls that have severely damaged his reputation. The latest album, UY SCUTI, is due for release on Friday, September 26.
