YG – 2004 ft. Buddy & The Gang

YG 2004 ft. Buddy The Gang

One can never fully understand the struggles others face, particularly when individuals are reluctant to share their experiences. This unfortunate reality is exemplified by YG, who endured a profoundly transformative ordeal during his teenage years. He vividly recalls the traumatic event of being raped in 2004, which also serves as the title of his latest single. The song was subtly previewed during his recent livestream with N3on, where the poignant lyrics, “When I was young, I got r*ped,” compelled him to refrain from discussing it further.

“2004” features a performance reminiscent of Nate Dogg by Buddy, along with additional vocals from The Game, and narrates the details of the incident and the individual involved. According to YG, he was only 14 years old at the time, while the woman was 30. He had attended school with her niece, whom he had also dated, and their interactions included multiple sexual encounters. He confided in his friends about the situation, but they merely viewed him as impressive for being involved with an older woman. Although YG shared similar sentiments at the time, this experience ultimately led him to end his relationship with the niece. He acknowledges that those unforgettable moments have permanently affected his mindset. Nevertheless, his courage to address this issue publicly, even after all these years, is truly admirable.
