Wizkid Criticizes Burna Boy During Ongoing Online Dispute With Seun Kuti

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known as Wizkid, has seemingly addressed Burna Boy amid an ongoing online dispute with Seun Kuti.

On January 20, 2026, Nigerian social media was rife with drama as Wizkid and Seun Kuti engaged in an animated exchange that captured significant attention in the music industry.

Seun Kuti had previously criticized Wizkid’s fan base, the Wizkid FC, calling them ignorant and condemning their assertion that Wizkid is the “New Fela.” His comments included personal attacks related to the late Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

After a period of silence, Wizkid responded with strong comments, referring to Seun Kuti as a “fool at 40” and a “hungry bastard,” accusing him of harboring unwarranted animosity toward him and his supporters. He also claimed his influence surpasses that of Fela Kuti and made derogatory remarks about Seun Kuti’s spouse.

Seun Kuti retaliated by emphasizing his father’s unmatched legacy, mocking Wizkid’s height, and escalating the dispute by bringing in allegations regarding American music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Seun Kuti posted:

“Free Diddy. His Lagos babe is missing him. @Wizkdayo.”

Wizkid quickly responded, suggesting that Nigerians are aware of who “Diddy Baba” is, a comment perceived by many as indirect criticism. There has long been online speculation linking Burna Boy, another Grammy-winning Nigerian artist, to Diddy, which made Wizkid’s remarks particularly noteworthy.

Wizkid stated:

“We all know who be Diddy Baba for Naija. If na chain you want come collect too oh, make una free me, my mouth no good oh.”

Speculation intensified when blogger Tunde Ednut implied that Wizkid’s comments were directed not only at Seun Kuti but also subtly at Burna Boy.

Tunde Ednut wrote:

“Omo, Burna Boy sef collect. Burna Boy won’t let this slide. The internet go sweet soon.”
