Wizkid has achieved a new record with his project Made In Lagos (Deluxe), which is now the first Nigerian album to have every track sell over 100,000 units in the United States.

This achievement further cements Wizkid’s legacy as one of Africa’s most influential musicians and demonstrates his part in popularising Afrobeats worldwide. Made in Lagos was first released in 2020, with a deluxe edition following in 2021; the album has been widely acclaimed for its smooth fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, reggae, and global pop elements.

The album has continued to resonate with listeners for years after its release, from fan favorites like Mood with BNXN and Ginger with Burna Boy, to the Grammy-nominated hit Essence featuring Tems and Justin Bieber. Every track is now crossing the 100K sales threshold in the U.S., marking a first in Nigerian music history.

Beyond Wizkid’s individual success, this achievement signifies a significant triumph for Afrobeats, demonstrating the genre’s increasing global influence and confirming that African music is not only popular but also enduring.
