Mariah the Scientist’s ongoing battle for love persists. On Tuesday evening, September 16, the singer performed a medley from her latest album, Hearts Sold Separately, on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Dressed in green latex resembling the toy soldier from the cover of her latest album, she performed live versions of the project’s lead single, “Burning Blue,” as well as “Rainy Days,” which can be found later in the project’s tracklist.

“Operation Hearts Sold Separately.” Soldier hit, soldier down. A voice over the radio announced “No man gets left behind” just before Mariah launched into the record. She sings from the floor, lying out like a discarded toy soldier on a battlefield, staring up at an open sky and praying for rain, her words filled with a hopeful longing that the flowers may share. I would argue that love and hatred can’t exist together at the same time / My response would be, ‘That’s precisely what resentment is.’

Mariah rose to her feet approximately halfway through her performance, before transitioning into “Burning Blue.” The album’s most popular track can be attributed largely to its massive success on TikTok. “That’s exactly what I’m talking about,” Fallon exclaimed after shaking the singer’s hand. Mariah’s appearance on “The Tonight Show” was a brief but satisfying glimpse of the entertainment that fans can look forward to during next year’s “HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY TOUR.” The 36-city tour will commence in Paris on January 12, before proceeding through Europe, with the North American segment commencing the month thereafter. She will tour major cities such as New York, Detroit, and Los Angeles before concluding her tour on April 10 in her hometown of Atlanta.

The 10-track album made its appearance last month, featuring Kali Uchis on one track, “Is It a Crime,” making it possible that fans may catch the two artists performing together on tour.
