Wale – Blanco

Wale Blanco

This is not a test; new music from Wale is out immediately. The Washington D.C. rap scene is represented here, featuring a single titled “Blanco.” The long-awaited album has been generating significant excitement, particularly given the “Lotus Flower Bomb” songwriter’s enthusiastic promotion of his upcoming project. The veteran’s next album will be their eighth studio release when it is finally dropped. He spent time with his loved ones, and as he put it, “#8 is next,” he posted on his Instagram in November. The current project is the completion of album 8. The speaker declared four weeks prior, “Haberdashery aligns with sonics: true greatness is underway.” It seems likely that 2025 will mark a comeback for Wale, given that nearly three full years have passed since the release of his last full-length album, More About Nothing. Although the drought is ongoing, he’s been appearing as a featured artist and releasing solo songs sporadically. The last information we received about him was in September 2024. September 2024 was the last we heard from him in that capacity.

Following that, he released a three-track EP featuring an introductory track called “Ghetto Speak.” The two other tracks were “Mission Statement” which featured production by T-Minus, and “What’s The Play” which featured Chaz French. In contrast to those three cuts, “Blanco” exhibits a distinct difference from start to finish. Wale significantly slows down the pace and explores the dual effects of alcohol as both a depressive substance and a mood elevator. He notes that employing this approach can be hazardous, as it often results in people sidestepping their problems rather than confronting them. He revealed that the decision to share this emotional and sombre track originated from West Coast Styles, explaining the reason behind it. “Artists spend years hiding behind bravado…’Blanco’ strips all that away. I’m starting a more genuine dialogue with my audience, sharing my true feelings, and I’d like to provide people with a chance to connect with a more exposed aspect of my artistic expression. That mission was successful in our opinion and it is hoped that more information about their eighth album will be revealed shortly.
