Victoria Monét, a prominent American R&B artist, has discussed how her highly successful collaboration with Davido, the renowned Nigerian Afrobeats artist, on the song “Offa Me” unexpectedly came together.

In a recent online interview posted on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Grammy Award-winning singer disclosed that the record, Offa Me, was not originally meant to include Davido but somehow ended up featuring him due to an unexpected series of events.

Monét revealed that the song came into being during a studio session with Haitian producer Michaël Brun, who is recognised for blending global sounds such as Afrobeats and Dancehall.

I was collaborating with a producer from Haiti called Michaël Brun. The song was created randomly, and a few months later, she couldn’t recall how it ended up in Davido’s hands, but he contacted her, and Davido expressed interest in the song, so they just went ahead with it.

Davido’s fifth studio album, 5ive, saw one of its standout tracks originate from a spontaneous session. Offa Me has since become a fan favourite, praised for its effortless blend of Afrobeats and R&B, as well as the undeniable chemistry between both artists.

The modern music landscape is now a fluid and unpredictable environment, where songs can travel across continents before being matched with the ideal artist. This also showcases Davido’s ability to identify potential hits and his skill in bringing different cultures together through music.

Offa Me’s ongoing success has not only expanded Davido’s global presence but also showcased the impact of organic collaborations across borders on modern music.
