VIC MENSA – the word ft. Mick Jenkins

VIC MENSA the word ft. Mick Jenkins

VIC MENSA is launching a fresh chapter in his diverse career with this latest release, “the word.” The new release will precede his EP, Sundiata, by just one day, and it will be available on his website, assisted by EVEN. The track also features Mick Jenkins, a previously mentioned collaborator.

Earlier, they contributed to “Farm to Table”, a masterpiece of lyricism on the Alabama-born MC’s previous album, The Patience.

Although that is a notable record, ‘the word’ is even more complex in terms of its themes. VIC MENSA is highly vocal about various issues, including politics and music industry injustices. All of that enthusiasm for demonstrations and public speaking has led to this track here.

This marks the beginning of his career as an independent musician. His most recent album, Victor, which was released in 2023, came out under Roc Nation. He has recently expressed his willingness to move forward in this direction and appears to be prepared to take on the challenge.

He also discussed “the word” and this project in greater detail, which is coincidentally being released on Juneteenth. I’ve been getting many comments suggesting that I’ve compromised my artistic integrity by becoming a content creator due to the difficulties I’ve encountered in the music industry. I’m saying this to them – it’s always been about the word. I am a person first and foremost. Sharing my ideas is my vocation. Hip-hop and music serve as mediums to convey the message, but they are not the origin. He said in part that it’s not the only valid way for him to express himself.

This influential Instagram post is just a small part of VIC’s larger efforts, and we are eager to hear what he has to share about Sundiata. Take a look at “the word” which is listed below.
