It is the second track on the California-based visionary’s surprise ninth album, DON’T TAP THE GLASS. At the time of writing, the project has only been out for a few hours, yet it already stands among the genre’s top offerings for the year 2025.

Before its release, Tyler issued a clear and fair warning to those anticipating another grand and complex listening experience. “You all need to lower those expectations and hopes, this isn’t a concept or anything,” he tweeted.

He couldn’t be more correct. On the other hand, he isn’t. Although a simple theme, Tyler The Creator did come up with one. This 10-track collection is a continuous celebration of 80s-90s dance music and it achieves great success.

As mentioned earlier, “Sugar On My Tongue” is one of our favorites, and pressing play below won’t make it difficult to understand why. The groovy, electro-hop bassline combines nostalgic and modern elements with its shimmering synth key hits.

Tyler’s decision not to create another listening experience like CHROMAKOPIA led him to simplify the lyrical content. Having a project like this is actually beneficial. “Sugar On My Tongue” still has some sticky and sweet lines that enable it to maintain the dancing state.
