When reviewing Tommy Richman’s latest song snippet, Joe Budden expressed his candid opinion. On episode 796 of the Joe Budden Podcast, the well-known host discussed his views on the Virginia musician’s latest track “Actin Up.”
On the first of February, Saturday morning, Budden permitted his cast to express their opinions on the new Soulja Boy/snap era-inspired clip before allowing them to fire the rest of the shots at the “Million Dollar Baby” artist. He expressed the opinion that the rising artist should retire, preceded by criticizing the song, pointing out that it is difficult to appreciate this track given Richman’s statement in 2024 that he is not a Hip Hop artist.
Budden later stated in his rant that he believed Richman’s intention behind his social media posts was to create a sense of separation from Black musicians. Following the discovery that the artist was associated with Brent Faiyaz, he deliberately remarked, “It’s difficult to sound worse than Brent Faiyaz.” He complimented Faiyaz on his business skills, but expressed that he is not particularly fond of his music. He then called the person named Richman, “Kool And The Gang G-Eazy”.
Budden has previously expressed his opinions about Richman and Faiyaz. He previously expressed his disdain by saying, “I hate that f**king song by Tommy Richman.” I was craving more impactful moments. At the beginning of October, In a 4-episode podcast, he remarked, “What’s the point of even tweeting?” All you need to do is have the easiest job in the world. Tommy Richman, be quiet. You are referring to a group where people can benefit from your success without ever having to interact with Black people.
He has maintained a consistent position since Richman denounced the predominantly Black music style. Budden thinks Richman is replicating Post Malone’s strategy, which the latter employed after initially achieving success with his hit song “White Iverson,” before diversifying into other musical genres once he had established himself as a prominent figure in the music industry.
