Tiwa Savage has once more spoken out against the controversy surrounding her leaked sex tape, firmly denying claims that she released it herself to stay relevant.

The video that had gone viral in 2021 was made public after the singer refused to comply with a blackmailer’s demands. Tiwa Savage remembered being severely criticised after the incident, with numerous individuals accusing her of exploiting the scandal for sympathy.

In a recent interview with U.S. radio station Hot 97, the Afrobeats star revealed the profound impact the incident had on her. I was ridiculed for my sex video. Many people believe I was attempting to garner sympathy. She said even those with large followings were very nasty and accused her.

She denied intentionally leaking the clip, saying it’s ridiculous to suggest that. It’s inexplicable to me that they wouldn’t view me as the victim in this situation. It was claimed that I did it to stay relevant. If I were doing that, I would have been deliberate about it. I would have employed more flattering lighting, selected more alluring lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been perfectly in place.

Tiwa Savage, known as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has continued to succeed in her music career since the sex tape scandal, though she acknowledged that the experience still affects her emotionally.

The singer’s comments draw attention to her own perseverance as well as the dual standards and societal tendency to blame victims that women frequently encounter when under public scrutiny.
