Burna Boy Tems

The singer-songwriter has now matched Burna Boy for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by a Nigerian artist, thanks to her latest chart appearance.

Her new song, “What You Need,” becomes her seventh to enter the prestigious U.S. chart, placing her alongside Burna Boy, who previously held the record alone.

With both artists now having seven Hot 100 entries, this milestone further highlights the growing influence of Nigerian music on the global stage, particularly in the United States.

This achievement continues a journey marked by significant collaborations and notable solo performances. Tems’ seventh entry comes from ‘What You Need,’ the sixth track off ‘Love Is a Kingdom,’ her surprise EP released on November 21 via RCA Records.

The project was released quietly, without prior announcement or heavy promotional efforts. Lasting just under 20 minutes, the seven-track EP was written and largely produced by Tems herself. On the chart, ‘What You Need’ debuts at No. 93.

Tems first appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021 with Wizkid’s global hit ‘Essence.’ Since then, she has consistently appeared on the chart, driven largely by high-profile collaborations, particularly ‘Wait For U’ with Future and Drake, which debuted at No. 1.

Her growing list of Billboard Hot 100 entries now includes:

– ‘Wait For U’ feat Future & Drake
– ‘Essence’ remix feat Wizkid & Justin Bieber
‘Fountains’ feat Drake
‘Free Mind’
‘Move’ feat Beyonce & Grace Jones
‘Raindance’ feat Dave
‘What You Need’ (Latest Entry)

By matching Burna Boy’s record, Tems not only marks a personal achievement but also highlights the continued rise of Nigerian artists on one of the world’s major music charts, indicating that this trend is likely to continue.
