Nigerian artists Tems and Burna Boy have made significant progress in music history, surpassing the South African rock band Seether for the most appearances by African acts on the Billboard Hot 100.

Prior to this week, both were tied at seven entries each. This changed with the release of J. Cole’s new album, The Fall-Off, which provided new chart placements for both artists.

“Bounce Road Blues,” featuring Tems and Future, entered the chart at No. 34, while “Only You” with Burna Boy debuted at No. 78. These new entries bring both artists to eight career appearances on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the highest total for any African act.

For Tems, this achievement adds to a notable year, having secured three Hot 100 entries in 2026: “Raindance” with Dave, “What You Need,” and “Bounce Road Blues.” No other African artist has achieved more entries on the chart this year.

Burna Boy has also extended his notable streak, becoming the first African artist to have a song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.

His run began with “Loved By You” in 2021, followed by “Last Last” in 2022, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, “WGFT” in 2025, and now “Only You” in 2026.

As Afrobeats continues its global rise, both Tems and Burna Boy are playing a significant role in pushing African music into mainstream international charts.
