Tempoe Receives His Third Award From RIAA As His Song ‘Soweto’ Reaches Gold Status In The United States

Nigerian music producer Tempoe has reached another big achievement with his hit song Soweto, which he created with singer Victony.

On September 15, 2025, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) officially announced that the song went Gold after selling and streaming over 500,000 units in the United States.

Launched on May 5, 2022, Soweto has turned into one of the biggest Afrobeats songs of this decade, gaining popularity not only in Africa but also around the world. This has helped Tempoe become known as one of the most reliable hit producers in the genre. The remix of the song, which included American rapper Don Toliver and Nigerian star Rema, expanded its audience even more, reaching listeners globally.

This new achievement is Tempoe’s third award from the RIAA. He had previously received an 8x Platinum award for CKay’s hit song Love Nwantiti and a Gold award for Omah Lay’s song Soso.
