SZA Opens Up About Her Experience In The Bennett And Drake Feud Kendrick Lamar Feud

SZA had a standout 2025 which involved dodging rap rivalries and headlining concerts with Kendrick Lamar. In a recent GQ cover story, the “Kill Bill” singer revealed how she navigated mudslinging while advancing her career.

A feud between Dot and Drizzy in 2024 and continuing into the next year put SZA in a precarious position. At minimum, the 35-year-old artist is affiliated with TDE, a label formerly home to the Compton-based rapper, thereby establishing musical ties with them. Drake has frequently collaborated with the 6 God, including two songs, “Slime You Out” and “Rich Baby Daddy,” on his 2023 album, For All The Dogs. As for Drake, she’s collaborated numerous times with the 6 God, including a pair of songs — “Slime You Out” and “Rich Baby Daddy” — on his 2023 album, For All The Dogs.

The Hip Hop feud intensified with a series of back-and-forth diss tracks, such as the mention of SZA’s name on Drake’s “Push Ups,” and ultimately came to a head with “Not Like Us.” The “Luther” singer primarily avoided involvement.

SZA told GQ, “It was something between two grown men, so why would I insert myself between something between two grown men, you know?”

Critics and onlookers are prone to jumping into controversy, rather than taking the high moral ground. He, however, opted for the second option. “I didn’t really have any personal investment, I suppose. It’s clear that I adore Kendrick,” said SZA. I’m associated with Top Dawg Entertainment, which is my supportive community. It’s clear that I’ve had a long-standing relationship with Drake and we have a beautiful rapport. And, obviously, it’s unfortunate when unfortunate events unfold.

The “unfortunate” situation she’s referring to is the ongoing animosity between former colleagues Drake, with whom she was once romantically involved, and Kendrick Lamar. The former is planning to appeal the judge’s decision to dismiss his well-known defamation case against Universal Music Group.

SZA had no issue performing “Rich Baby Daddy” during the “Grand National Tour” in stadiums across the country and abroad. “I’m unsure why I wouldn’t be celebrating something bad that I ate earlier,” SZA told GQ about performing the mentioned song.

Given her numerous award show wins, impressive Super Bowl halftime show performance, and widespread praise in a year where she hadn’t even released a new album, SZA can celebrate herself however she chooses.
