SZA’s LANA, the deluxe edition of her acclaimed sophomore album SOS, is set to receive an expansion. On Thursday evening, February 6, the artist’s official website announced that “new songs [are] coming” on Sunday, February 9, at 7 p.m. ET, coinciding with the kickoff of Super Bowl LIX just 30 minutes earlier.
While she has not specified which bonus tracks will be included, fans are eagerly anticipating the potential addition of “Open Arms,” the much-anticipated “Take You Down,” and “PSA” to streaming platforms. Heightening this excitement, SZA hinted at another project in January, referring to herself as “Ms. Never Miss.”
The St. Louis-born artist initially suggested that she would be adding more songs and refining the mixes of several tracks shortly after the album’s release. On December 30, 2024, she announced that updates to the album would occur on January 6, once her label returned from the holiday break. “Sorry they can’t do it any sooner. Just wanted to keep y’all in the loop. Thank y’all for your patience,” SZA tweeted. However, that date passed without any updates.
It is worth noting that SOS Deluxe: LANA is already an extensive project, featuring a total of 38 tracks, including 15 new songs released in late 2024. Among these additions are “Kitchen,” “Diamond Boy (DTM),” “BMF,” and “30 For 30,” which features Kendrick Lamar.
Coincidentally, Kendrick Lamar is scheduled to invite SZA to perform with him during Sunday’s Big Game. “We haven’t even had a chance to crash out about it ‘cause everything has been moving fast, as far as production, rehearsals and stuff. So, we speak, but we haven’t really got a chance to settle into the moment,” the Compton rapper remarked in an interview with Apple Music on Thursday. “For me personally, watching her career and where she comes from, it’s amazing to see.”
