Skepta & Fred again.. – Back 2 Back

Skepta Fred again. Back 2 Back

Skepta and Fred again.. have collaborated in the past few months. Skepta featured on the first remix of Fred and PlaqueBoyMax’s track “Victory Lap,” which evolved into an experimental piece. They went on to release three more remixes, ultimately leading up to a fourth one that also featured appearances from Denzel Curry, Hanumankind, and That Mexican OT.

Skepta and Fred have reunited for “Back 2 Back,” a collaboration which, as its title suggests, may serve as a spiritual successor to their initial concept. The track is an extremely energetic song, boasting a powerful low-pitched sound and a high-intensity performance from Skepta. The duo’s chemistry is evident in their producer-rapper collaboration, and it would be compelling to hear Skepta’s full album featuring production akin to this backing his lyrics.

The track comes after a notable exchange between Skepta and Joyner Lucas. Skepta stated that UK rappers would outperform US MCs in a battle if they were to engage in one. When in London for his Wireless Festival performance, Drake also stated that the UK boasted the best rappers in the game.

Joyner did not appreciate Skepta’s comments, and the two artists exchanged several diss songs. Neither side’s fanbase appeared to gain a new perspective on the other, despite the intriguing exercise.

Skepta reportedly initiated the promotional campaign for his upcoming 2024 album, Knife & Fork. This would be his first LP in more than five years, still unavailable for fans to experience personally. It’s been a considerable amount of time, so hopefully, we can expect a new Skepta project soon. Listen to “Back 2 Back” as shown below.
